On June 16, 2025, the management of Bohol-Panglao International Airport (PIA) officially transitioned to Aboitiz InfraCapital Bohol Airport Corporation (AIC-BAC), marking a major step in the province’s direction toward sustainable development and improved air connectivity.
A ceremony was held to formalize the turnover of operations and management from the Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP) to AIC-BAC, the infrastructure arm of the Aboitiz Group. This makes BPIA the third airport under Aboitiz InfraCapital’s portfolio, following Mactan-Cebu International Airport and Laguindingan Airport.
Witnessing the event were CAAP Deputy Director-General Danjun G. Lucas, CAAP Director-General Raul Del Rosario, Mactan-Cebu International Airport CEO Athanasios Titonis, and Aboitiz InfraCapital Airports Service Company Head of Operations and Security Ronald Mangahas.
The transition was also announced via the airport’s official Facebook page, which revealed the new logos and branding identity. Under a 30-year concession agreement, a ₱4.53-billion upgrade is set to enhance passenger capacity, terminal efficiency, and aviation systems.
Located in Panglao, the airport plays a key role in promoting Bohol’s status as the country’s first and only UNESCO Global Geopark. The development supports the province’s Strategic Change Agenda, which advances green infrastructure, inclusive tourism, and sustainable economic growth across all municipalities.
