BASIC ENTREPRENEURSHIP FOR SUSTAINABLE TRANSFORMATION (BEST) SERIES PROGRAM

BEDIPO made it its goal to find other ways of providing service to our MSMEs aside from the seamless business name registration at Bohol BOSS. Back in 2014, the office surveyed a few respondents and asked what other services they would need and their challenges as entrepreneurs and would-be entrepreneurs. In conclusion, the survey results showed that many of our business registrants had minimum experience in business and financial management.

Hence, we thought of programs to ensure sustainability for our local MSMEs through capacity building and development.

In 2015, BEDIPO launched the Basic Entrepreneurship for Sustainable Transformation or BEST Series Seminars as part of the services offered at the Negosyo Center-Bohol.

The seminars and trainings are facilitated by Business Counselors of Negosyo Center-Bohol and is offered to private individuals, students and civil society groups without any charge. The series also invites over special mentors and business people who offer their knowledge and services pro bono for the program.

BEST Series offers seminars on entrepreneurship, business and financial management, food safety, and branding, among others.

PROGRAM OBJECTIVES:

To provide existing MSMEs the necessary information and skills that they need in developing their businesses
To enhance the entrepreneurial level of the aspiring entrepreneurs
To equip the staff with technical knowledge to carry out their tasks
To strengthen the information assistance service of the office through providing customers with accurate and relevant information pertaining to business

The following are some of the trainings and seminars offered by BEDIPO as part of the BEST Series program in 2023:

MOBILE BEST SERIES: GREAT FOOD PARKS IN BOHOL

Date: April 26, 2023

The program Basic Entrepreneurship for Sustainable Transformation (BEST) Series: Great Food Parks in Bohol is an innovation of the office to further promote Business Information and Advocacy as one of its primary mandates. The first of the series of activities under the program was held in Bazak Food Park in Tubigon. Speakers from BEDIPO, national government agencies and even from the private sector were given time to give inputs and learning sessions to existing and potential entrepreneurs on different topics related to business establishment and operation.

BEST Series is already a continuing program of BEDIPO. But this year, to expand the reach of the said program, it goes mobile to start-up Food Parks around Bohol with the goal of developing further the food business industry and hopefully transform our food parks into tourist destinations.

After this activity, the group was invited as a caterer of the Sandugo National Frisbee Tournament meals and snacks

SETTING UP A BUSINESS AND FIGHTING INVESTMENT SCAM

The activity aims to help Bohol LGUs promote a more business-friendly environment to attract more investments by giving them more ideas on the ease of doing business and briefing them on the strategies to detect and prevent possible investment scams.

15 LGUs were invited during the event. Partner NGAs namely: SEC, DILG, DTI, BIR, PHILHEALTH, SSS, PAG-IBIG and DOLE, shared their respective inputs and briefing on the said subject matter.

SEMINAR ON SEC ANNUAL REPORTING

The Provincial Government of Bohol thru Bohol Economic Development and Investment Promotion Office (BEDIPO) with the access of entrepreneurs, MSMEs, creative sector and the innovators collaborated with Intellectual Property Office of the Philippines (IPOPHL) on a capacity building activity on Intellectual Property. A good opportunity to look into the rich cultural, artistic expression and various produce that can be protected and later on can be a source of additional revenues for the province. 60 participants, from the different LGUs of Bohol, attended the said webinar with speakers from the national office of IPOPHL.

BEST SERIES: “Business in Culture and Arts” in cooperation with Center for Culture and Arts Development (CCAD)

Considering that ecocultural tourism is one of the main drivers for a sustainable economy in the province, the activity aims to push further culture and arts entrepreneurship to the forefront of future developments. The BEDIPO finds this activity as a good opportunity to expand the BEST Series Program while at the same time helping our Boholano art enthusiasts and the community.
